The Honda is all set to unveil the diesel version of its most popular model Accord, Honda Accord Diesel. The possible reason of the launching of Honda Accord Diesel in Indian market could be rising petrol price or falling sales of petrol driven Honda Cars in the country. The diesel version of the car will have the same body and styling as the existing Honda Accord.
The Honda Accord Diesel is likely to be introduced in India by the first quarter of 2012. The car will be competing with Skoda Superb Diesel, BMW 3-series, the VW Passat and the Mercedes C-Class. The new diesel version of this sedan will be loaded with 2.2L common-rail diesel engine which will be able to deliver a peak power of 134 hp along with a top torque of 347 Nm. It is hoped to offer a mileage of 17.84 kpl.
The price of new Honda Accord Diesel is speculated apprx Rs 24 lakh in India. Currently, the new premium luxury sedan is available in UK with the price tag of £21,365 to £30,410. The car has a seating capacity of 5 passengers and measures 4950 x 1845 x 1475 mm.
